**Hide Glue Note – I am fully experienced and equipped to do any of the above repairs with all-natural hide glue. I strongly recommend this for all instruments originally constructed with hide glue and for customers who want a superior wood joint.
Pricing is for labor only and reflects an $125/hour service charge. Strings and other required parts are not included in the above pricing. Examples: Strings ~$13, Bone nut or saddle material ~$12, Fret wire ~$15 for standard, $35 for EVO gold or stainless.
The minimum charge for all jobs is $40 CDN.
While I do my best to quote as accurately as possible, unforeseen issues can arise as I get deeper into the job.
If I find something unexpected, and the bill will be over 20% more than your quote, we will call you for approval. If additional fees are within 20%, we will continue work in view of expediting service and getting your instrument back to you. Please note that labour and materials charges will apply for all work done up to any point.
All of these details are outlined on the work-order that we’ll have you sign when you drop off your instrument.
Yes. On any instruments left for more than 30 days, we charge $2.50 per day for storage fees. We are a busy working shop and can’t afford the space for surplus instrument storage. NOTE: Any instruments left for one year or more will become the property of Whitney Guitars.
At Whitney Guitars, we pride ourselves on attention to detail & quality craftsmanship. While all instrument setups are at factory specification, individual playing styles and preferences may require further adjustments. If you would like additional adjustments to your setup, simply let us know within 5 business days of picking up your instrument and we will strive to make things right at no additional cost.
Similarly, if you find any deficiencies in workmanship, simply let us know within 5 business days of picking up your instrument and we will strive to make things right at no additional cost.
NOTE: Payment of your invoice suggests that you agree to these terms of service and that the job was completed to your satisfaction.
We do require a 50% deposit for any jobs $100 or more. This is to cover shop supplies and parts.
We do our best to accommodate working musicians. However, to us, everyone’s instrument is equally important. Normally we can fit your job in, but if you want to secure your spot in line, a $40, non-refundable deposit is required and will be applied to your job.
We can install parts you bring in, but we are not responsible for defects in pick-ups or parts not purchased at Whitney Guitars. If provided parts are defective, labour charges still stand.
It’s important to note that you will require more than a re-fret. Not only will the nut have to be refitted or replaced in order to work with the new frets, your acoustic will probably also require a saddle adjustment or replacement.
Please note that the price of a re-fret does not include any nut or saddle work. Refer to the pricing detail above for our current repair rates.
It’s important to note that you will require more than a re-fret. Not only will the nut have to be refitted or replaced in order to work with the new frets, your electric guitar or bass will require a complete setup. If you wish to do your own setup, I can only do the fretwork and nut work.
The price of a re-fret does not include any nut or setup work. Refer to the pricing detail above for our current repair rates.
